BRCCI publishes a one-of-a-kind study on the labor mobility between Bulgaria and Romania
A one-of-a-kind study on the cross-border labor mobility between Bulgaria and Romania is published on the website of Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The study introduces new data on the employment perspectives, obstacles and possiblities for labor mobility between the two countries with an emphasis on the eight Bulgarian districts and seven Romanian counties from the cross-border region.
A research about the tendencies of the socio-economic development of the region has been made. Included are the answers from a survey among 146 Bulgarian and Romanian companies about their needs of workers and their readiness to hire employees from the neighboring country, as well as their assessments of the main obstacles standing before the labor mobility and the needs of essential competences in a situation of cross-border employment. Data on qualification-supporting services, public policies about the needs of specialists, as well as practical information on employment legislation, labor relations, pay levels, growth prospects and local recruitment practices are provided.
The study is innovative not only because of its subject matter, but also because of its territorial scope, since it is the first of its kind, which encompasses the Bulgaria-Romania cross-border region. Innovative is also the approach of making a comparative analysis between the two countries on all included topics.
The study is conducted through a review of legislative documents, strategies and plans, analysis and summarization of survey data, meetings and interviews with key companies, institutions, as well as other methods.
The data from the study is a basis for the future services of the Cross-Border Labour Mobility Agency “VISA”, which will be available in the middle of this year.
The study is the first big initiative in project “VISA – Cross-border labor mobility agency”, which is being implemented by BRCCI in partnership with the Association of Sustainable Development Slatina (Romania, Olt county) with a financing from the Interreg V-A Romania-Bulgaria programme. It is published in both Bulgarian and Romanian language.
