Happy holiday to all our Romanian friends, colleagues and partners!
We wish them health, wisdom and success!
November 30th – Saint Andrew's Day, is an official holiday in Romania, while December 1st marks the country's National Holiday. It's the date of unification between Transylvania and Romania, which created a new country in 1918. On December 1st 1918, in Alba Iulia (Transylvania) a National Council was convened, where 600 members of Parliament and 628 representatives of cultural and public organisations vote for the unification of the following counties: Transylvania, Crisana, Satmar (now Satu Mare), Maramures and Banat (the westernmost part of Romania, next to the borders with Hungary and Serbia).
On June 4th, 1920, when signing the Treaty of Trianon, part of the Paris Peace Treaty system, the Western part of Banat was added to the teritorry of the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs. Traditionally, there is a huge military parade on this day in the capital Bucharest, but the celebrations were suspended because of the pandemic. The two days – November 30th and December 1st, are non-working days in Romania.
