Public and media appearances of the BRCC leadership
The Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum held its annual meeting with ambassadors in Bulgaria, which included Advocate Viktor Gugushev, Chairman of BRCC, and Mrs. Brândușa Predescu, Ambassador of Romania and Honorary Member of the BRCC Executive Board. During the event, which was attended by senior managers from over 40 companies, ambassadors and economic attachés from more than 35 countries in the European Union and worldwide, as well as high-ranking representatives of Bulgarian and European administration, Advocate Gugushev expressed the business community's position that Bulgaria and Romania should be supported on their path to Schengen and should become full members of the common area for the free movement of people, goods, and capital as soon as possible.
In an interview on Euronews, the Ambassador of Romania to Bulgaria, Mrs. Brândușa Predescu, also addressed the Schengen topic. According to her, Sofia and Bucharest will soon deserve the trust for land border Schengen. When asked "When?", Mrs. Predescu predicted that the institutions working in sync – the governments, agencies, together with the European Parliament and the European Commission (despite changes following the elections) – aim for this to happen by the end of the year. Another focus in the interview is the cooperation between the two countries – the economic relations, the increasing integration of the economies, and the intercultural ties between Bulgarians and Romanians. The work of the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and its role in the economic life of the country and the Balkans, connectivity, bridges, and business – these are some of the highlights in Advocate Gugushev's interview on Studio Banker. "There is no way large economies like Romania and Turkey can remain disconnected, and this is a natural process that happens through Bulgaria, but the infrastructure in Northern Bulgaria and Southern Romania must be developed," said Advocate Gugushev. He reiterated the stance of the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber that separating land Schengen from air and sea Schengen is an incorrect compromise. In the second part of the conversation on Studio Banker, Advocate Gugushev answers questions such as: "What can a Bulgarian businessman expect from the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce?", "Is the idea of a 'Balkan Schengen' realistic?", "Why do multinational companies invest in Romania and not in Bulgaria?".
