Тhe contractor of the feasibility study for the expressway between Bucharest and Giurgiu was assigned
The National Company for Road Investments of Romania (CNIR) has announced the selection of the Romanian consortium SC Proiect Construct Regiunea Transilvania (lead partner) – Roads Design as the winner of the tender for the preparation of the feasibility study for the Bucharest – Giurgiu express highway. This will be the first highway designed all the way to the border with Bulgaria.
The contract, funded by the European Union under the Transport Program 2021-2027, is valued at 31.2 million Romanian lei, excluding VAT.
This contract will determine the profile of the future highway (whether a full motorway or an express road), its route, and the connection point to the border between Romania and Bulgaria — through the construction of a new bridge over the Danube River in the Giurgiu – Ruse area, stated the Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu.
“On Europe Day, which we are celebrating for the first time within the Schengen free travel area, we are taking an important step toward the first highway designed at the border with Bulgaria — an essential investment not only for connectivity and mobility between the two countries but also for the entire European transport network,” said Gabriel Budescu, General Director of CNIR.
He emphasized that this project is the first in road infrastructure to integrate the BIM (Building Information Modeling) concept.
After the legal deadline for filing complaints expires, the contract can be signed.
